No sympathy here, Facebook can show their ads without tracking their users and non-users.
Ok, assuming I agreed with facebook’s premise (which I don’t), how does this begin to affect websites rather than apps?
It doesn’t. It doesn’t really negatively impact anyone but Facebook.

Facebook will largely lose the targeting effectiveness of their audience network, which has always been suspect.

Facebook cares so much because now they have to run more ads on their own platforms or raise the price on their ads to make up the margins.

The Audience Network is a way to dump ads off their websites and apps, while still claiming they are highly targeted and effective when the reality is they are very low quality ad impressions.

Facebook is absolute scum. Can’t believe they were the darling of SV just a few years ago. Quickly becoming clear after Moskovitz and the other cofounders left, Zuckerberg is an egotistical, power-hungry maniac.
The mental health of the planet could be instantly improved if Apple threw Facebook off iOS. FB’s argument is paper-thin, their copy is trite and the two companies couldn’t be further apart on ethics and business practice. I cannot, for the life of me, envisage the world view that Facebook espouses.
I can't stand either company but Facebook is clearly scared to lose their product (You).
