What's concerning is how tied other crypto currencies are to Bitcoin's spot price. E.g. Ethereum and Ripple rise when BTC rises, and fall when it does.

Looks like all crypto coins will be forever chained (no pun intended) to the first mover.

While now the correlation is high, it wasn’t always like that, and probably won’t be always happening in the future.
I believe the general investment community looks at the Bitcoin price as a signal for overall interest in the crypto space.
