It will be controversial to say the least. Eliminating or reducing gifted / selective programs in the name of increasing equity or diversity.
Separately, I think that all things are solved if more + better schools are created to serve any growing population. This is almost purely a product of population growth competing for limited places. Grow the number of good school spots and the problem goes away.
