The law is set to take effect on Jan 1.

You know, I have yet to reconcile my own conflicted feelings about these bills (the one this fall on drivers as contractors, versus this one).

For example, I'm all in favor of stopping tech companies from misrepresenting restaurants' menus as their own, and extracting a hefty margin off people's barely-surviving profits. While on the other hand, I don't think that tech companies are improperly classifying delivery people's labor as contract work and need to be stopped.

Maybe it's that the first is an involuntary participation without someone's agreement, while the 2nd is someone explicitly agreeing to work a certain way, as unpleasant and without benefits as it may be?
