Hate speech laws always start out with a high bar that eventually drops low enough to jail you for teaching a dog the Nazi salute.
I support trans (and all LGBTX) people being a protected class that cannot be discriminated against, but I don’t like laws criminalising speech.

This is coming from someone who is minority in my country, have experienced a good share of racial discrimination. Why? I come from an oppressive country where speech is criminalised. I treasure freedom of speech, even if I find what you’re saying disgusting.

This bar isn’t very high. Lots of words can be seen as “dehumanising”. If you go through the comments on a porn page, you will find tens of thousands that could meet this barrier for criminal prosecution, and I think that’s just wrong.
