Ask HN: Does HN Filter Submissions ?

I just tried to submit a link in HN to this NY Times article about the Drudge Report (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/16/business/media/16carr.html?_r=1). My submission didn't appear at all. I tried again and it failed to appear in the new category. Does HN filter links? What gives? This a story about a web pioneer who's still on top.
