Don't see much online but it's getting unusable for me

Happening for me too. It's showing a blank screen when I navigate to a channel/DM.
Yes, noticed slow message sending and then now slack will not open on desktop. On web it shows

"Server Error

It seems like there’s a problem connecting to our servers, and we’re investigating the issue.

Please check our Status page for updates."

and on the slack status page it's all green

EDIT: interestingly, the help pages are all down for me as well https://slack.com/help/articles/205138367-Troubleshoot-conne...

DownDetector [1] is sometimes a better status page.

[1] - https://downdetector.com/

It reports several services which started facing increased error rates at the same time: Slack, Webull, Robinhood, Vanguard, IRS, Apex Legends
Also AWS, yet the AWS status page shows all is well. I wonder if all the down services are due to AWS.
Yes, and Twitter confirms that a ton of people are seeing this.
Same for me. Getting a high proportion of 503 Service Unavailable responses.
Slack is also not working for me
It's working fine for me. But for some team mates slack is unusable. Seems that not affect everyone.
Down here too. No updates on Twitter either: https://twitter.com/SlackStatus
Lies, damn lies, statistics, status pages.
I keep thinking about this quote from Dr. Strangelove: "Yes, but the... whole point of the doomsday machine(or in this case, the status page)... is lost... if you keep it a secret! Why didn't you tell the world, eh?"
Updated about three minutes after your comment. Twitter too.

> Customers may have trouble loading channels or connecting to Slack at this time. Our team is investigating and we will follow up with more information as soon as we have it. We apologize for any disruption caused.

It is still lying by showing almost services as green with "No issues"

  Login/SSO -- No issues
Connections -- Something's not quite right View details
Messaging -- Something's not quite right View details
  Link Previews -- No issues
  Posts/Files -- No issues
  Notifications -- No issues
  Calls -- No issues
  Search -- No issues
  Apps/Integrations/APIs -- No issues
  Workspace/Org Administration -- No issues

they set everything to "red" 16:40 UTC

Slow for some actions. Example: It changed my status with like 10 sec delay
Down for me on work + personal accounts.

I guess their holiday deploy freeze is lifted? :-)

Twitter [0] is much more useful than status.slack.com.

[0] - Search, not @SlackStatus or @SlackHQ

They probably scaled down their infrastructure over the holidays, but now that everyone is back at work they're underprovisioned.
Was my first though too, really looks like they scale down based on the average of the last 2 weeks, but obviously this last 2 weeks would have been extremely low.
ahhh this is a much better theory than mine: my first thought was the lifting of a holiday deploy freeze.
Oh man I didn't even think of that one
I hope that's the issue.
Hmm so 2021 is the year they switch to k8s for fast scale up and multiple engineers get a promo out of it?
You'd think at their size of their team they'd understand that they would need to scale back up in anticipation of the post holiday return to work.

Slack has the most outages of any major company.

My thought was everyones local cache was expired and it's re-syncing everyone. Supposedly they run vitess for mysql sharding, and that could mean they're getting slammed by a lot of scatter or cross shard queries they can normally handle.
yes, messages dropped, can't join channel
Down. Desktop app doesn't load, webapp hangs
For folks who have this outage. How much does this downtime coat you? Or your team? Or, since Slack is down can focus w/o interruption?
I have to rely on Teams now, the horror. God forbid I have to start using the telephone next!

On a more serious note, downtime is not that bad, it probably allows me to focus without interruption for a bit, but will quickly create problems. Being the first day of the year, there is a lot of quarterly planning going on and many colleagues are reaching out for this. There is also the flurry of typical support queries after a break of nearly two weeks, at least for most.
