As the CCP and the civilized world ramp up their war I hope we can snag some good defectors. Part of me is terrified; if they can't get control of a 3rd rate power like Russia God help us with Beijing.

This is pedantic but seeing as the other comment is joking about his appearance then I do want to say that China is civilized. To say it's china vs. civilized is wrong at best and helps dehumanize billion plus people at worst by implying they're not civilized yet we inherently are. I do agree with you on your point overall though.

The comment you are responding to seems to explicitly be speaking to the actions of the Chinese Communist Party, not the people of China in general.

A people and their government can, and often are, decoupled when it comes to authoritarian regimes such as the CCP.

Even when the obvious distinction between over a billion people with 5000 years of history and the Chinese Communist Party is preempted clearly a lot of people seem to want to act as if the Chinese people are being attacked, not the criminal gang oppressing them. Strangely, when American policy is attacked however viciously I never see any of these bleeding hearts chime in about the over 300 million Americans that aren't human trash.
