Pinochet, Franco, Musharraf, Gaddafi, Hussein... Recent history says military dictatorship. Then they can loot in the open, instead of hiding it behind a matryoshka of shell companies and nonprofits.

Too many devolve into tyranny or anarchy because of the faults of human nature.

This is the kind of question that has obvious answers that few entertain seriously. Optimism Bias, etc.

We’ve not had any form of true democracy...ever.

Actual freedom, where voting and other forms of influence on other people and their property are severely limited.
