He should start digging around college campuses. We chopped down a bush in front of our fraternity house during undergrad and inside the foliage found beer cans dating back twenty years at least.
And over the bank of forest service roads.
They were doing something up in the rafters of the basement of my parents house and found a couple beer cans stashed up in there, probably from when the house was built.

The one I recall is "Carling Black Label" and it came in a very simple can. It had been opened with a can opener, the kind that put a triangular hole in the can.

About thirty years ago, we bought a rowhouse, built ca. 1983, in the Maryland suburbs of Washington. One neighbor, a first owner, said that he had found a lot of beer bottles back by the heating unit in his basement.
When I was around 8 (26 years ago), I had a couple hundred distinct cans and cigarette packs glued to the wall with plasticine. Good times.

Wallpaper, though, looked awful when I had to take it down before moving to another place.
