Ask HN: What is stopping the sciences being as accessible as ComSci?

I feel like you can largely teach yourself(at least bad programming) to the extent that you could pass a grad interview.

Can I just become a Chemist by watching some Khan Academy videos?

Knowing simple basic programming can probably equated with the simple basic chemistry of cooking.

More advanced subject expertise in either field requires a grounding and understanding deeper than watching a few videos.
