Well I breached the security protocol. Am I going to jail?
If someone hooked it up to trigger some final command on a server they were hacking... well it wouldn't sound good in court when the prosecutor says "You clicked the 'Breach Protocol' button, and you gonna tell us you didn't know what you were doing?!"
I would just explain that I play Cyberpunk 2077 which is set in Night City and that "Breach Protocol" is a minigame inside the main game and that my assumption was that I was going to listen to some cyberpunk music given the .fm tld and by this point everyone from the investigating detectives to the assistant DA and presiding judge would be rolling their eyes and judging me to be some very silly person not worth prosecuting. I hope!
It gets stuck on "Loading" for me in Safari (and Chrome).
Worked on Firefox 84.0.2... well until it got to 'loading player'... then stopped.
Also Firefox. I wonder which browsers work?
Mine gets stuck loading but outputs this in the console

>getting new tracks... >Array [] >couldn't get tracks: Request failed with status code 504

Same. Seems like it's stuck making a request to 'https://night.fm/api/'. Possibly facing the hacker news hug of death
504 errors in the console, looks like HN huge o' death.
Server is returning a 504 on /api/ which their JS doesn't expect and gets stuck forever.
Reminds me a lot of poolside.fm, I hope it’s by the same guy
Poolside is extremely cool, especially the desktop clients styled like classic MacOS
According to the maker's main website [https://circuit.dev/], it appears to be a "cyberpunk-themed radio station"...though for me, it stays at "LOADING PLAYER"...so maybe the site/app is getting overwhelmed with traffic? I'll come back to it later.

I did like that hacker-y intro screen; very neat!

Network tab shows it's waiting for a request to /api so definitely under too much load right now.
I think it's just staying a bit too close to the source material.
Is hacker News the new load testing. Instead of having to whip your up own j meter instance you just post a link here and see what happens .
You mean like LoTaaS (load testing as a service)? ;-) (I totally made that up, and have no idea if that is even a real thing.)
Of course it's real, and most DDOS-as-a-service providers claim that they are offering load testing as a service.
I think this is the first time I've seen Svelte in the wild (outside of NYT)
Image that shows what it would work like if the server wasn't down (looted from a meta tag): https://i.imgur.com/kJIGRF5.png
Off topic but what a mess imgur has become!

It's an image sharing site, yet the image is the last thing that loads.

After 20 seconds I closed the tab, I'm on a mobile connection in a fast train and the image was not loaded after that time. The social media badges were though.

If one uses i. it is less bad:

Those "i" links are only less bad if you're not on mobile. Imgur detects mobile browsers and redirects away from "i" links back to spam-heavy ones so they can push their app.
Hah, that's amazing (in a terrible, terrible way).
That's what happens when you take millions in VC money. They want you to generate a return.
I feel like for this to be on the front page we should maybe know what this page ... does.
I'd love to have this load and listen in, but while you're waiting you might be able to get your fix from https://nightride.fm which I found a while back.
Oooh. Thanks for this! Now enjoying the Recktory channel.
Eager to check it out when it's able to breath again!

In the mean time, I can't recommend https://nightride.fm/ enough. Fun retro/synth UI, great stations, and a MilkDrop visualizer for whatever you've got playing.

When they do shows with artists and producers those are blast to listen in on.

Thanks for sharing this. I've been hunting around for a good synthwave radio, and this hits all the right points.

I'm eager to try out OP's link when the server can handle again, but the experience on nightride fm is REALLY, really cool.

> ...I've been hunting around for a good synthwave radio...

I've just been using the many synthwave playlists/mixes that exist on youtube. And, it has not been bad. But, now thinking about it, yeah, a web radio station would be nice! I'll revisit night.fm once they're under less of a load.

I'm listening now and this is actually making me anxious. The music is the kind you'd hear in 80s movie montages right before something important is going to happen. I'm now anxiously waiting to find out what major plot point happens next.
Nightride is a great one, listening now!

https://somafm.com/ is another excellent music stream, Groove Salad is my favorite.

This would be a great use-case for webtorrent or something.
Looks cool and I'll be interested in checking this out when it's up again.

The interface and vibe remind me that people have posted links here about listening to the International Space Station; I would love an internet radio station that was sort of like a police scanner, but more like astronauts or aquanauts talking to each other – calm human voices far away, with that sort of static two-way-radio vibe, more science and less carnage. I could listen to that all night long.

Love this site. The servers are getting overloaded right now acc. To the Discord. That's why it's so slow.
Aaaand... it's down...
