Remember this is a centralized service, and all centralized services are doomed to fail for short periods or forever.

If you believe control of the world's communications should be open and distributed, I suggest supporting Matrix instead.

It would be more accurate to state that *all services are doomed to fail for short periods of forever* which ultimately means nothing. Everything will fail at some point, even your chosen decentralized service.

I do agree that decentralized is the way forward, but there's no way I'd ever ask my grandma to install Matrix.

Matrix is a Discord/IRC replacement - a significantly better alternative! But let's not delude ourselves into thinking it's going to replace text/SMS, which is the primary use case for WhatsApp/Signal.

I can send my grandma a link to Signal, and she would be able to get it working, and I'm already in her contacts! There's no way I'd attempt the same with Matrix/Riot/Element/Fluffy chat.

Maybe the ecosystem was moving too fast.
Are you guys still experiencing trouble? I have had zero issues since this morning (central European time). There might be some delays that are longer than usual, but never longer than say 4-5 seconds.
Yes, I'm still getting messages that don't decrypt properly sometimes.
I have friends still running into problems. They received my message but they had to reply to me in whatsapp
Anyone have good experience with their desktop client? I downloaded it and linked it, but it is refusing to import my contact list. Seems very janky overall (crashed twice in 10 mins).
I use it without any trouble on Linux and Windows.
I use it without trouble on mac, windows, and linux. If you are having trouble today or yesterday it might be related to the outage.
