Ask HN: How do you visit museums?

I don't think anyone really learns how to visit a museum, but everyone seems to have their own method/style -- especially for large art museums.

I'm curious about things like: Do you take notes or photos to remember what you liked? Do you explore thoroughly or just focus on a few pieces? Do you use a guide? Do you look up interesting pieces on the Internet to learn more, or do you just pass by?

I usually go in like a blank canvas and come out as a cultural piece of art. Everything sits in the head and the soul. Could never think of taking pictures, using guides or anything else. Art must be felt in my opinion.

That's nice, but I feel that it vanishes after some time, so I would have to come back to the same museum to recharge regularly.
