The article ends with "April 16 2020: The Daily Manifest made over $10k in sales." There's a tweet from May/5th embedded "You can make $100,000 a year selling a one page PDF." but I can't see it actually generated that revenue.
It appears that they were selling shovels, pickaxes and associated methods to make money.

"Buy my ebook to make money online"

For the first 100 HN readers to respond, I've lowered the price of my one-page PDF to just $99. Without having to read, you'll learn how to earn an amazing $100k (eh $99k) in your first year. Hurry, I've only got 1000 printed and they'll run out fast.

Not sure why will you say this is a pyramid scheme? He’s not earning money from anyone to pay anyone else (down the line).
It is a pyramid scheme. You've described a Ponzi scheme.
