I’m interested in this and wanted to read more, but every time I scroll the page reloads and eventually crashes (iOS Safari)

I've heard this idea (I think) expressed as, "All organisms garden". It also reminds me of Dawkins' "Extended Phenotype", and the ultimate ecological niche: Gaia, the self-regulating "niche" between vacuum and magma, between Sol and Nuit.

(Nuit is the Egyptian Goddess of the Night Sky. I'm being poetical referring to how we need both a nearby but not-too-close star and the cold sky to have an energy gradient for life.)
