PfSense Plus will be included free if buying netgate hardware. That's what most vendors will use for customers. However, I consulted with some businesses that were very strapped for cash in the past, and I used some old hardware with intel NICs, and it was excellent for the price.

I think the bigger worry will be for all existing users of the OSS version (like myself) that it's being essentially being put on life support (FAQ 7, and "leveraging a newer and more robust secure networking software stack [...] well beyond the limitations of the current stack" about Plus in FAQ 5).

Hopefully the "free for home use" proposal for Plus (FAQ 11) will happen.

I have one of their devices, my concern is that the Community Edition will end up not being developed any more.
