Very cool, though hardly behaves like in real life. I can’t seem to make the “hello world” of latte art (the heart). With a few tweaks I’m sure it can be possible.
I think the main issue is that it’s inherently a 2D-only simulation where latte art is all about the 3D fluid properties. Pouring milk somewhere doesn’t just add and displace, it “drags” on the existing art and pulls it in as the milk goes under the surface.
It's a cool concept. I do think the physics do need a bit more work though. Usually with latte art the way you hold the cup and where you enter the milk plays a large role in the final outcome. So the 2D variant can't really capture that.
But I still like how the milk flows and I love seeing projects like these on the internet.
