Tell HN: We launched Solo v2 – open security key

Two years ago, during YC Startup School we launched our first ever Kickstarter campaign. It was a great success, thanks also to this crowd.

Today we launched Solo v2: a new security key that you can use to protect your Google, Twitter, Github account with the strongest two-factor authentication.

Solo is special because it's open source. Solo v2 is much more robust, water resistant, has stronger NFC & reversible usb plug. The micro is a NXP LPC55S6x with extra security features and firmware was rewritten in Rust.

Join our campaign and support open source & open hardware! https://solokeys.com/v2

Does it have integration with common password managers? Bitwarden, 1Password, etc. The extra layer of security is good for extra sensitive stuff.
It supports the FIDO2 standard so if your password manager supports FIDO2 it should work :)
Backed at the Early Bird level. Been waiting for the V2 go launch. Can't wait to see what's next.

Quick question: which do y'all foresee as likely to be more popular, the USB-C or that awesome reversible USB-A?

We'll know at the end of the campaign when we ask what backers want. This time it should be a fair comparison as the cost is the same, while in our past campaign USB-C was more expensive.

I bet 70% USB-C, 30% USB-A.

As a manufacturer, I wish USB-C died and everything was lightning, but I assume that's patented and will never happen. USB-C plugs are horrible to assemble and make strong.
