The Epic Game Stop Trade Lawsuit of 2021
This case and the results of the litigation are set to become a historical benchmark between at least 3 "Goliaths" of the financial industry and thousands of "Davids"who are smaller retail traders. Already, as this story is being written huge entrenched financial institutions have have instructed their attorneys to file suit in a brazen attempt to recover their losses resulting from whom they will allege is a rogue group of smaller retail conspirators on subreddit known as wallstreetbets (WSB's). The looses of the huge entrenched financial institutions are estimated to be at least $2.5 Billion, and even if the legal costs are in the range of $100 million dollars, which in fact is only ~ 4% the estimated looses.
The reddit website owners/moderators will be served with a motion(s) for discovery to pony up and reveal the identities and ip addresses of all participants in the forum during the dates in question, and all major brokerages will be served with subpeonas to reveal anyone whom profited from the Game Stop trade to the tune of $10,000 or more.
It is expected the drama will unfold in the typical manner, with written civil depositions, progress to oral depositions, and then on to trial (written deps are typically used first in an attempt to establish the facts, then oral deps are employed afterwards in an attempt to confuse and "trip up" the deposed party). A record is preserved and maintained and submitted to the court before any trial with arguments to attempt to show misstatements and "trip ups" of the deposed parties. The result of this EPIC trial will determine and further establish/define the power dynamics of the ongoing class struggle beween an ever growing class of smaller retail traders and a few entrenched hedge funs and institutionals. Suspicions are rising that government institutions may step in with new legislation or rulings that will be regarded as unduly favoring one side or the other, potentially resulting in further litigation.
