Is the idea that technology will evolve to allow long distances to be driven without having to stop and charge for hours during the trip?
"Charging times will vary depending on charging type and vehicle specs. There are three levels of charging:

AC Level 1 charging can deliver 2 to 4 miles of range per hour (at home use)
AC Level 2 charging can deliver 7 to 40 miles of range per hour (at home use / at work)
Range per hour varies depending upon the type of charger used (3kW to 19kW)
DC fast charging can deliver 60-100 miles of range in 10 minutes (public use)
Range per hour varies depending upon the type of charger used (24kW to 350kW)"

I work for General Motors but this is from the gmc.com website for the Hummer EV coming out.

I mean, I just drove from Indiana to a Florida with roughly 2h chargetime, which roughly corresponded with time to use the restroom and snag lunches.

Outside of trips, have charged 100% at home without needing to go to gas stations (saved a few hours this year, so the trip above is more or less a wash)

For most of the US at least, this is already a solved problem. (However it is not solved for GM, they need to catch up to Tesla)
