The article hasn't mentioned the sizes of the cubes, but the linked journal paper shows that the typical size is 2.3cm x 2.5cm x 4cm, which is about (but slightly thicker than) the size of a rubber/eraser. So, the shape is more like a rectangular cuboid than a cube.
