> Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia has since deleted the Facebook post in which she made the suggestion, according to Media Matters for America, a left-leaning research outlet. But the group released a screen grab of the November 2018 post in which Greene detailed a long, meandering conspiracy theory involving Pacific Gas and Electric Co., former Gov. Jerry Brown, Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s husband, space-based solar generators and unnamed people who claimed to have seen “what looked like lasers or blue beams of light causing the fires.”
What a piece of work. Looks like we already have a Republican Presidential contender for 2024...

Greene was one of the 139 representatives who challenged the
results of the 2020 US presidential election in Congress on
January 7, 2021, the day after the storming of the U.S. Capitol.[3]
She has voiced support for conspiracy theories including
Pizzagate,[4] QAnon,[5] false flag shootings as a means for Congress
to legislate for gun control,[6][7] 9/11 conspiracy theories,[8] and
the "Clinton Kill List".[6] Her Facebook account has expressed
support for executing prominent Democratic politicians.[9] In January
2021, she filed articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden
the day after his inauguration, alleging abuse of power.[10]

Someone played too much SimCity2000.
Far left paper repackages DNC talking points into a hit piece about someone's facebook posts 3-years ago and pretends it's news.
And her social media presence in the years in between has demonstrated maturity and good judgment?
It’s not a far left paper, centrist at most. It’s not like they’re calling for workers to seize the means of production.
> It’s not a far left paper, centrist at most. It’s not like they’re calling for workers to seize the means of production.

In this case, I'm sure pretty sure "far left" has nothing to do with policy, and actually translates to something like "not loyal Republican" or "not seeking to spare Republicans embarrassment."

It's sort of like how RINO has come to mean "disloyal to Donald Trump," and gets applies to people who'd score 100% conservative on any ideological test.

Obviously you affiliate with Republicans (as did I until relatively recently). Why do you feel the need to defend someone who discredits your group by openly believing bonkers things?

Also, how effective do you think your tactic of "label-outgroup and dismiss" is? It's not persuasive at all except to those already persuaded.

Maybe they like what they see. Or maybe they're too scared to stand up to what they see.

The party leaders are defending the people you say discredit the party. McCarthy has spent more time and effort attacking Liz Cheney than Greene. And Greene claims Trump supports her. Does this look more like a party rejecting bonkers, a party undergoing a purge of disloyal members, or a party caught like a deer in headlights?

And how bonkers is she really? This stuff isn't new. American Nazis at Madison Square Garden in 1939.

WWII put a damper on that movement. Bonkers suggests crazy or outlandish. If Greene had a mental health problem, she'd be harmless.

“The idea is clean energy to replace coal and oil,” Greene wrote.
“If they are beaming the suns energy back to Earth, I’m sure they
wouldn’t ever miss a transmitter receiving station right??!!”
Uhh... The Sun already does that for us. It's called Sunlight.

facepalm

As if more evidence was required to see qanon for what it is: warmed over blood libel with a flag slapped on top. It's not just a laser beam, it's the rothschilds' laser beam!

The old tricks still work really well, more's the pity.

Good case study in why it is often not productive to legitimize "both-sides".

What started the California wildfires: 1) We're not sure: could be power lines, fireworks, a cigarette... 2) Jewish space lasers

The mymag.com article on this [1] has a few other things she supports/believes (or relatively recently supported/believed):

• The QAnon stuff.

• Muslims should not be allowed in government.

Related: I saw another article about her with video of her confronting Representatives Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib to try to get them to retake their oaths of offices using the Bible [2], claiming that it was not legal to be sworn in using the Quran. In it she demonstrates breathtaking ignorance of over 200 years of US law.

• 9/11 was in inside job.

• The Parkland, Sandy Hook, and Las Vegas shootings were staged.

• "Zionist supremacists" are secretly masterminding Muslim immigration to Europe in a scheme to outbreed white people.
