Ask HN: Proportional Coding Fonts?

Hello.

I really like the way that code looks when displayed with a proportional font, except for three things:

1) The punctuation characters (ex. parentheses, braces and spaces at the start of a line) are often too narrow. 2) I miss having coding ligatures (where => becomes one symbol, for example). 3) I really wish I could use proper elastic tab-stops.

Does anyone have any recommendations for proportional fonts that are nice to code with, or setups that improve upon just using a regular non-monospace font?
