California's teachers' union is quite powerful and a big force the state has to contend with. Even if teachers are vaccinated, there seems to be no clear plan forward.
Seems Newsom has a tentative date to reopen as soon as mid-February statewide. I personally don't think the big districts will do much before the end of the school year (May for primarily semester-based K-12).
This is probably not a constructive comment that adds to the HN discussion. Can you explain why you think this article is an example of the left destroying itself? From my perspective, it seems like a local governance issue.
You apparently didn’t bother reading the lawsuit and how closed schools hurt the “brown” and “black” students that the board and union are supposedly for. Nor did you read it stating how private schools have been safely open for many months even prior to the vaccines. This is the left SF government sueing the even more left SF school board!
Did you read about how the mayor is for reopening and governor is for school reopening across the whole state? This fight with school boards and teacher unions is going across the whole state. It isn’t just SF schools that are closed.
People are increasingly dissatisfied with them for the public schools remaining closed. There is a recall effort against the governor.
Sure doesn’t sound like a local governance issue. 40 million people, 5th largest economy in the world. Sure sounds like the left destroying itself.
As I actually did read the article, it is poor form on your part to accuse me of not doing so. It also makes you look like a jerk.
If you think teachers should be forced back to work without vaccines or proper PPE, then you are advocating for something awful - not allowing people to make their own decisions about their career and personal safety.
The rest of your garbage comment is not really worth discussing, as it relies requires adopting some pretty biased perspectives that I would rather not try to emulate for the sake of discussing some point with someone like you.
Whether you think your opinion is correct, it is typically expected that comments here add to the conversation rather than /just/ make politically charged accusations.

Have a good day.
Don’t bother addressing them if you don’t like. Call it garbage instead of addressing points. Feel free.
Apparently you also failed to notice that Marin public schools are open with no outbreak either. It’s in the lawsuit.
Apparently evidence that there is no major issue isn’t enough. Only your fear rules.
