Earlier today I was typing in a tab and suddenly several of my tabs closed. I thought, that was weird, and reopened them from memory.
Several hours later I notice none of them have suspended as they should have by now, odd. I start looking and The Great Suspender's icon is missing. Strange.
Then I see this article. Wow. I'm hoping it was more malicious external entities than it was the developer going rogue. I really loved that extension, it was useful.

tldr it was purchased by another entity and has since integrated analytics to track your browsing.
