I'm working on getting my semi truck to Chico CA. I left Laramie on I-80 westbound this morning, having been shut down the previous two days for wind and ice.

That road is still closed to light high profile vehicles, but this trip I'm almost at max legal 80,000 lbs (I'm at 78,500), so I was able to drive. Carefully.

My test suite includes arriving with all eighteen wheels on the ground Tuesday morning, with Donner Pass still to go.

Wow that sounds like a very long drive. Good luck getting there. I hope the weather will let you through!
Thanks. It's not especially long, you just drive one day at a time and go to sleep at night. And then you drive one day at a time to the next stop.

You're either sitting in a chair behind a desk all day long, or sitting in a chair behind a steering wheel all day long.

Fair enough. Have you been doing this for long? I always wondered if it’s a lonely job.
I'm just finishing my third year. It can be lonely for some. But there's phone and email until you get home.

I like the solitude, and I have never felt lonely. I'm probably an outlier.

Glad to hear! Safe travels and enjoy the drive!
Programming some sensor nodes for a custom IoT heating controller for my home.

Around the house there will be a bunch of sensors connected to the WiFi network, talking via MQTT to a raspberry pi. A few of them will control the heating system.

Temperature and humidity are logged and shown on a nice webpage.

Yeah I can’t wait to buy my own house and do stuff like this. Solar panels are also on my list :)
Working on getting more familiar with Gatsby - thinking of moving my and my brother's substack onto our own static site so we have more control over it. Mainly don't like all the trackers that substack adds to the newsletter.

Another reason I'm considering a custom site is that I'm interested in adding 3D visualizations and tools to our articles (which are mostly technical breakdowns of our engineering projects).
