Treating this with a huge amount of scepticism but searching Geekbench for Alder Lake gives single core score of 996 vs 1700 for an M1 Air.
I find it... funny that a core reason they're citing as a reason Intel is better than M1 is that "it can play a bigger library of games".

Great, you made an x86 chip, that's not inherently a reason that your chip is better. Once most software is written for ARM then you will fall by the wayside.

Yeah, this really sounds to me like a sunset of x86 hegemony with such arguments. Not to belittle the game market, of course. It's huge. The hybrid chips they're planning to release are unlikely to be cheap. We'll see.

Also, not every x86 software needs to be ported, given the available alternatives and cross-compile features.

Interesting times. :)

It's remarkably amusing because it's one of the reasons some Windows users use to point out their superiority over Linux.

It's doubly funny because the M1 is able to play the vast library of games already available for iPads and iPhones.

They used the one metric (available game tittles) that doesn't matter on the MacBook Air.

Nobody buys a MacBook Air to play games.

The new macbook air is actually decent for gaming.

On the intel macbook airs (and on most pros without gpus) playing CS:GO at full resolution was a bad experience (overheating and <60fps).

I got the cheapest M1 macbook air and it plays CS:GO with no issues and without heating up (even when the ambient temperature in my city is ~38 Celsius)

any other games that you've played on them that you care to comment on performance wise? just curious
How is this guy only getting 10 hours out of his Air M1? It easily lasts over 16h for work if you use Safari. It can play 20+ hours of 4K video non-stop.

The battery life comparison image is provided by Intel PR.

Using Chrome, Zoom and Slack sounds like a possibility.

While I work, my MBP routinely enters "hairdryer" mode.

It’s unlikely any Windows laptop can last anywhere close to 10 hours with that combo.
