I find it hard to believe that ICE does anything useful for national security. Pure government waste.
Agencies like ICE and the TSA appear to be jobs programs for people who would otherwise have difficulty finding work.

It's just a shame that the makework mostly involves harassing people. You'd think we could find more productive things for people to do.

We absolutely can find more productive things for those folks to do. America’s infrastructure needs rebuilding, and clean energy can create so many jobs. A humane society doesn’t necessitate lack of access to jobs.
I simply don't understand why ICE still exists. Its such a waste of taxpayers money and there are companies like Palantir which supports them and generates billions of profit.

I don't think those evil people/companies feels ashamed. Even github working to supply tech to ICE makes me sad.

Looks like you answered the question yourself

The organizational culture of ICE appears to be terrible. While there does need to be an organization to manage immigration and enforce immigration law, it seems like it would be a lot better if all present ICE employees were fired and those responsibilities were transferred to an expanded FBI, or a new organization built from scratch.
