Waiting to see the comments here. Did Musk just change his opinion, or go insane? Or could this happen without Musk's direct intervention?
I think I speak for many, many people when I say that I am done trying to understand Elon Musk.
No.. he's just sick and tired of the financial system, the SEC, etc.
Cryptocurrencies are not a way around any of those things.
He has recently mentioned that he is changing his mind about cryptocurrency. So this is not a news.

I personally think there is an overestimated perception about how Elon Musk doesn't like money, and that he is all in for the environment. He has been very successful to build that brand for himself, but it's exaggerated that he's very different from other billionaires. I'm not saying he or other billionaires are bad, but I also don't buy the idea of Musk being different than everyone else. Most of the people even don't know that he wasn't a co-founder of Tesla. He is certainly opportunistic and big risk taker like many other billionaires. But, he is capitalizing on his brand as someone that is radically different from others and is all in for the environment.

Not sure how much of this is speculation and how much is pure trolling. Welcome to the postmodern capitalism where nothing makes sense.
You can say about Elon Musk what you want but he knows how to make headlines.

I'm not sure you need $1.5B for those kind of headlines but these bitcoins can be sold again after all.

Invest 1.5B, post news "ElOn MuSk SaId BiTCoIn GoOd", sell for 3B.
