Nutrition is hard.

From another HN discussion on a study published last month: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=26029557

"Conclusion: Our analysis suggests that higher consumption of eggs (more than 1 egg/day) was not associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease, but was associated with a significant reduction in risk of coronary artery disease."

I completely agree. I actually only posted this because of the discussion last time.
Can't remember where I heard it, but a nutritional researcher was complaining on a podcast that there is little to no funding for this work, the cohorts are ridiculously small, the research itself is sub-par, and many other issues. Which makes sense because of all the conflicting data out there.
"Numerous studies have revealed a connection between plant-based diets and a decreased risk of heart disease. A vegan diet has been found to be more effective at preventing heart disease than the American Heart Association-recommended diet of small amounts of fish, lean meats, and eggs.

Prof. Zhang’s team says the findings remained steady after accounting for other dietary factors such as age, sex, and education. It also did not matter if participants consumed fried, boiled, poached, or baked eggs.

“Our results should be considered by clinicians and policy makers in updating dietary guidelines for Americans,” study authors conclude."

FWIW I am a vegan but it does seem like there is more an more evidence coming to the public light that this is the healthiest way to eat.

It seems that as you age, for optimal healthy, you should increasingly adopt a primarily vegan based diet.

I still think meat and animal by products, specifically dairy and eggs are efficient ways to get the nutrition young, developing bodies need. However once fully developed, physically and mentally, it seems the cons slowly begin to outweigh the pros.

I am not a vegan or a vegetarian, though I have been trying to decrease my meat consumption as I feel the evidence is pretty solid at this point that it is optimal for health.
