An exclusive diet of anything would cause that wouldn't it?
If you haven't had US MREs before... You can almost taste the preservatives. They cause constipation at first use, and you can feel your body struggle to deal with them, feel your energy decrease, have problems sleeping.
Can vouch for the them slowing down your bowels - not sure about the rest (but definitely the height of processed food) - but recall being told by our instructors that that they were purposely designed that way as the last thing you wanted was bouts of diarrhea in the field
Yeah our DI's said the same, but then again half of what they said was BS, so I wouldn't take that at face value.

Due to my MOS, I would go fully on then fully off MREs regularly, so I got pretty familiar with the effects, especially since it was always done "cold turkey", with no transition period or A-rats.

If I recall there are something like 24 different main courses
Surprised Steve 1989 isn't mentioned here.
I knew Steve was on some real shit when he pulled out his electronic microscope to analyze some preserved jam for botulism.

The fact that he's now got a freeze dryer is also genuinely fascinating. Never has one man done so much for the positive exposure of the MRE community.

Jimmy didn't like the idea of warfighter kombucha. Whatever Jimmy, its better than rip its.
This study shows nothing bad happens from eating MRE's.

The change in gut microbiota composition is not considered good or bad.

They suggest the perceived problems happen from the stress of the situations they are used in.
