Ask HN: How would you describe imposter syndrome for yourself?

I’ll start... My imposter syndrome is feeling like my achievements have landed in my lap because of my gender, race and appearance. In America and elsewhere, poverty is largely based on current and historical racial and gender discrimination. I can’t shake the reality that I have succeeded personally because huge swathes of our population was effectively barred from competing. I feel like conversations about imposter syndrome have often turned into mythologizing meritocracy, and it makes me feel even more like an imposter.
