COVID lockdown has been a major boon to doom & gloom media, whether on social media or from major news outlets. This coincided with the terrible Trump attempt to undermine the election, which culminated with rioters sacking the US Capitol building. Add the usual winter doldrums and you have a recipe for social media addicts feeling convinced that the world is ending.
