As a lifelong Texas resident, I can tell you that ol’ Rick is right on the money. Notice, my reply is just as useful as the the original comment. All generalities are wrong, and is obviously a divided issue.
As a Texan without power since 2am Monday morning I just count my blessings that we aren't subject to federal oversight. Just imagine how horrible that would be! My house is 20 degrees right now. With Federal oversight, who knows how low it could go!
Considering that he's blaming renewables for the outage (versus offline gas capacity, which was the real culprit), I am skeptical of any other claims he makes. He seems to be pushing an agenda.

Actually, you do have regulators. It's just that they're incompetent. Anyone who ignored them did fine:
