Robinhood CEO Calls for Realtime Securities Settlement
CEO of Robinhood Vlad Tenev testified today at the hearing of the House Committee on Financial Services over the events surrounding GameStop and other stocks back in January. At the end of his testimonial, he called on Wall Street to implement realtime settlement:
"I want to highlight one more thing. The existing two-day period to settle trades exposes investors and the industry to unnecessary risk. There is no reason why the greatest financial system in the world cannot settle trades in real time. I believe we can and should act now to deploy our intellectual capital and our engineering resources to move to realtime settlement. Together we can solve this."
