It looks like someone from the company reached out in the comments section:
> I just saw your post this morning. I'd like to help resolve this as quickly as possible, if I can. I'm not exactly sure what happened in your case. This doesn't sounds fair or right, and isn't a TeamViewer business practice.
Not sure where it went from there though
edit: there’s a second page of comments where the issue appeared to be resolved but many others reported the same issue and were ignored
This doesn't really surprise me the least. My company has a lifetime license for TeamViewer and in December we got an email from them stating that the version we use will cease to function later this year. But we get a free upgrade to version 12 and also a 2-year free-of-charge trial of version 15 (the current one).
Doesn't sound too bad at first, does it? Now what they didn't tell us (and you have to dig really deep to find out), our "free upgrade" to version 12 is just another trial which ends the same day as our version 15 trial would.
But even if we were able to use the version 12 upgrade indefinitely, it's no longer possible to create a branded / custom QA client for it. TV only allows that for the most recent version.
So our options come down to paying the rather insane yearly subscription price, or not using it at all anymore. Well, we opted for the latter and are now shipping Anydesk instead with all future installations.
