Is this because you have to be logged in as your account to chat with them? Sorry, I know it is a probably silly question but I'd like to have clarity.

I love to shit on Google as much as the next person, but you can still contact them if you are locked out. Something those "Gen Pop" users are often not given (See the Terraria Dev for the latest high profile example of this).
First thing I looked for, and found, as well. I assume this is just HN being HN. Flagged. It would be good if HN allowed mentioning a reason for flagging (maybe?)
