Picking an Accountant

I'm a freelance software developer. I have an LLC for my business. What should I look for when picking an accountant to do my taxes/finances? Are there common hints/tips/red flags etc to make the selection process most efficient, avoid issues etc etc. How have others done it, can someone share their story?
