I primarily use social media to remain connected with my old friends and catch up latest trends.
In the context of me live blogging my life and looking at everyone else live blogging their life, absolutely not. In the context of "I have friends and I want to talk to them with cute stickers", absolutely.

I just wish said friends would leave Facebook so I could leave Facebook.

I only use RSS feeds and email.

i'm only on discord now and i know none of the people i interact with on there in person so don't consider it a form of "keeping in touch"
Got rid of everything around 2 years ago. Got Signal for messaging, and keep a LinkedIn account for new gigs.
Social media should be a good thing. The trouble is everyone associates it with Facebook + Instagram (and they both suck).

It's really hard for a new player to come into this crowded market, but I'm sure it will happen sometimes in the coming years. Zucky has brought nothing but toxicity, and hopefully, that will cost him in the long run.

What I'd like is something simple that would allow me to stay in touch with my friends, I don't want any reminders about "X posted Y", or "You might know Z" or whatever.

I dropped Facebook years ago and never bothered much with social media.

I'm still on twitter though. I don't care about hashtags and mentions, but companies do. They're still hooked at this social media bullshit.

So turns out that if you want proper and fast support by most companies, the easiest way is to start talking shit about them on twitter.

Immediate response, by a real human being.

When that stops working, I'll get off twitter.
