My 16" MacBook has now killed five docks and a USB-C audio interface, including a CalDigit TS3+ and a Dell dock, both renowned for their reliability.

It was not until yesterday when my CalDigit died, then I brought my laptop home and plugged it into my girlfriend's Dell dock and it didn't work the next morning, that I started to connect the dots. I thought the cheap docks I'd tried previously were either DOA or incompatible--turns out the laptop actually zapped them.

Also had to have a MOTU M4 USB-C audio interface replaced on warranty after my MacBook zapped it; assumed at the time it was a random failure.

I would bet serious money we see a class action suit here shortly.
