Yes, they used to be more conspiracy theory- and fantastical-oriented years ago. In this case, they're still playing fast-and-loose with their interpretation of "journalism."
The FBI didn't "confirm" anything. A pilot said he saw something cylindrical fly over and reported it to ATC. That's about all there is to this event.
There supposedly were other similar reports of unidentified flying objects tracking airliners around the Pacific Northwest.
It makes one wonder if it's an anti-conspiracy theorist trolling secret society of civilian and military pilots having a good laugh. The odds of some "miracle" domestic or foreign tech, or ET explorer robots are vanishingly small.
They said it looked like a cruise missile. Aren't there military bases out there? So it probably was an experimental missile or drone or something similar. But we don't want to publicize secret projects so we are supposed to pretend it's aliens.
