If we cannot stop climate change in time, how to mitigate the effects?

How can we adapt?

If we look at the current performance towards going towards a significant reduction of emissions and we assume that we will not accelerate the efforts, hence, the climate will change dramatically within the next decades.

What would we need to start doing on a governmental level in order to anticipate the consequences and mitigate them in the future?

I am thinking of consequences like droughts, climate migration, perhaps even famines and heat weaves.

More regulations need to be put on industries that emit high levels of carbon, such as the meat and dairy industry. Additionally, I think it is important that us as global citizens take responsibility and take action to mitigate the consequences of climate change. Our government needs to promote alternate forms of energy, such as solar, geothermic, and oceanic sources. There will be consequences for the many years where climate change and protecting the environment were not a priority, but now we have to make it a priority.
