Censorious in what way exactly? I feel like it is highly moderated already to the point where only posts that matter make it to the top (at least most of the time, no system is 100% perfect).
The question began with "If", as in a hypothetical (and potentially future) scenario in which circumstances change to more towards censoring content. I certainly agree that moderation as it is today is at a good level. That may not stay certain for long.

Yes, people have that freedom. I think this and the expected outcome falls under "play stupid games, win stupid prizes".
