I wrote this so I can do regular maintenance reboots on my FreeBSD router(s), without losing the IP assigned with PPPoE, and without losing the internet connection for my house.
Pretty niche, but I can't be the only one stuck with PPPoE who wants to do it a little better.
(I was letting the DSL modem do PPPoE for quite some time, but I wasn't happy with how they handle IPv6, and ended up in bridge mode, so my router has to do PPPoE)
