Is this any different from Microsoft's pestering of users to install Edge rather than any custom browser?
I understand that Apple doesn't normally use noticeably scummy advertising tricks, and the author does acknowledge nothing about this is unheard of nor particularly unexpected, but I don't really get how this article was even worthy of writing. Just... a person opened a browser and got a popup for a different browser from the same people that made the operating system.
If you don't like ads you can always install Free software...
