Google Ads is worse than cocaine or why the house always wins (devmargin.substack.com) 7 points by cosmodisk 5y ago ↗ HN
[–] pupppet 5y ago ↗ Maybe a dumb question, but do Google ads work? Who actually clicks on them? I just assumed it was only bots. [–] cosmodisk 5y ago ↗ From what I remember, no more than 5% of people click on their ads( probably more nowadays with their UI gimmicks). They also do work ( not for everybody thought), especially for simpler business, where 2 sentences is more than enough to explain it. [–] shmoogy 5y ago ↗ Depends on your vertical, but they can work incredibly well.

[–] samspenc 5y ago ↗ Wouldn't this apply to any type of online advertising, i.e., that done on Facebook, LinkedIn, Snap, etc?
[–] mimikatz 5y ago ↗ The muscle analogy seems much stronger than the drug analogy. I wish the author would have focused on that.
