How exactly does the author know what's in the recipe?
"These days, the Coca-Cola recipe is a closely guarded secret. But it's said to no longer contain kola nut extract, relying instead on artificial imitations to achieve the flavour."
Supposedly it's in here [1] and only two people have access to it/know it. But I think it's safe to say that it's just to create a mystique around a boring FMCG and the truth is much less exciting.
