I think goodwill is enough in this case. It would be interesting to know the statistics on how much women/men buy via ad clicks, but that is probably a state secret.
It's great to see such a benevolent move from a giant company. Every enterprise should commit to some practical acts regarding encouraging women instead of doing some controversial campaigns, like Burger King's "women belong in the kitchen."
"Here in the West, we have moral superiority, and will bribe poor countries with unfathomable wealth to behave as we think they should".
Now, where have I heard that before?
I see very little difference in the "altrusitic" actions in developing countries currently popular with big US companies, and the actions taken by the big European trading companies in centuries past. After all, it's good all round, right? Yes, it is good for business, but also the poor folks get to better themselves! (heavy sarcasm present).
Edit: I also see the money is mostly going to NGOs, which will allow a select handful of people to live in huge wealth and (non-democratic) power in the countries in question, and a few pennies handed out in "grants". It doesn't take long to find the kinds of abuses that NGO employees get up to, given that much power.
