It will be interesting to see if this is a SF thing or has a wider impact. According to the article, they’ve been trying to build this tower for 5 years and still can’t get approval. Perhaps Salesforce just said ‘F it’
This is definitely going to end up hurting SF the most. Why keep investing in a city that is actively hostile to big and small business when the talent is very happy working outside of SF. Unless the city shapes up fast I can see San Jose start slowly taking over when Google’s builds their new massive campus downtown.
This will be a double factor if Biden is actually serious about high speed rail. The current plans have them stopping at SJ if the trans bay train box isn’t built in time, which will only double down on SJ becoming the new heart.
